Shower Scenes
Not that kind of shower scene! Bridal shower scenes!
I do believe that I had, by no stretch of the imagination, the best bridal shower ever. Ever.
It left me, as many of you witnessed, speechless. Or close to speechless anyway…it left me with only the phrases, “Oh my God!” and “I’m so excited!” It’s the closest to speechless I’ve ever been. But I’ve gotten a lot of nice comments that it was fun to see an excited bride, which made me feel better, because after I came down from my shower high, I started to think I sounded like a bridal bafoon! Thanks for loving me and my excitability : )
I’m lucky for a lot of reasons that I don’t have time to name but one of those reasons is that I sometimes get the distinct feeling that the people I love know exactly who I am. I don’t always know, but they seem to! Case in point… the amazing shower decor…
I about fell over when I saw the decorations!! I knew they would be good but crimony! It was all so warm and fall and perfect! And then Kate said, “It’s country but with a little bit of sparkle, just like you.” And this was the first of 107 times that I nearly wept with joy. (It should be noted here that I refrained from actually weeping with joy. Or any other emotion for that matter. The same cannot be said for everyone. Ah hem, Cathy Buck. )
There were so many great little details! Like slices of lemon and mint in the lemonade! And punch in Grandma Peggy’s punch bowl! And adorable paper plates that looked like they were made to match our invites! And my favorite fall snack – peanuts and candy corn!! Yummo! Trust me there is nothing better than a bag of peanuts and candy corn, an empty bottle of wine and a camp fire.
And then there was the food. Have mercy there was the food. How about those salads folks! Those were the best salads ever! And yes I heard your requests for recipes and I’m working on it! As soon as I gather up those salad recipes from their respective owners I’ll share them here. Because we all need to eat macaroni salad with peas and crumbled cheddar cheese every day and relieve our stress with large bowls of that taffy apple salad maddness.
And then there were the cupcakes…
Aren’t they beautiful?
I was so excited (there’s that dirty word again) to make cupcakes for someone! I usually don’t get to share my cupcake adventures with very many people! Glad you all liked them. No I will not post those recipes here. You can’t have them.
Speaking of recipes. Thank you!! all for taking the time to write out your favorite recipes for me! I’ve been going through them the last few days and I can’t wait to try them all. Ok, I already tried one. One of them couldn’t wait. And all I have to say about that is…my Aunt Dianna must be able to hold her liquor better than I can because her margarita recipe left me passed out on the living room floor at 8 p.m. on a Thursday. Thanks for that. The new margarita pitcher and glassed worked great though : )
I would have cooked up more of those recipes (or drank more margaritas) but I just (and I mean just, as in an hour ago) finished putting away all of the awesome gifts!! I don’t even know what to say about it. I’ve never been more shocked in my life. You folks are all far too generous!! Zac and I spent two entire evenings just going back through everything! Trust me, we gushed over every gift and we appreciate every single thing!!
I think the absolute best part of the entire day was seeing all of my favorite women in one room! All talking and laughing and eating my baked goods! It was awesome! And if it was any indication of how fun the wedding is going to be, good heavens, I hope Galena is ready for us!!
I can’t think of appropriate way to thank you all enough! To my awesome aunts, mom, cousins and bridesmaids, you girls are amazing! Thank you a million times over for hosting such a great shower! To the rest of you – a sincere thanks for spending your Sunday afternoon with us (I know how hard those can be to share!) and for your thoughtful and generous gifts! I was very touched by the entire day!
Next up….the bachelor/bachelorette party. May the beer be cold, the music be hot, and may our friends have mercy on our livers. I may or may not post pictures from our farewell to the single life parties!
