I finally have photoshop (and it isn’t a trial version!)

January 31, 2009

As most of you know, photography is my dirty little secret. I could not care less about the technical aspects of snazzy studio lighting or sleek backdrops. I live for rusted warehouses, old brick buildings, brightly colored doors and questionable alleys. I like natural light. I like that it isn’t always perfect. That its sometimes dim and sometimes creates sun flares (sigh, how I love a good sun flare). So my camera and I have lots of fun together. Some very lovely, kind and patient people have landed in front of my amateur lens, allowing me to try and figure out what I’m doing, what I like and what I don’t. I have come to live for the moment when I deliver them their finished photos. They could seemingly care less that I had no idea what I was doing when I crafted their images. They just know they look good and that they’ll last forever. I’ve found few things in my life to be as fulfilling as people being giddy of pictures I’ve taken of them. Think how happy they will be when I actually know what the heck I’m doing!

Anyway…I’ve been getting by with editing software that is more or less Photoshop’s bastard cousin. I’ve downloaded a lot of trial versions of Photoshop. But I hadn’t given in and purchased the program myself. Hello! Its costs about $800 more than I was willing to part with. But thanks to a great educational discount and some economical assistance from my Pa, I am now the proud owner of Photoshop. It is installing as I write.

I have, oh, about a thousand photos waiting to be edited. I also have one very important wedding diy project waiting… its time to design our monogram logo thingy. Necessary? Not in the least. Fun? Oodles of it!

So without further ado… here’s a bit of newly photoshopped eyecandy…previews of future blogging tales.

Photos from our trip to Memphis were first in line to be edited so here’s a few… expect to see many more and an entire blog entry on our Memphis experiences.

A review of Claire Bear’s wedding is coming soon too! Claire is my college roommate and the perfect bride! Her wedding was fabulous and will get its own complete blog entry…here’s a shot of the happy couple. ALL of the photos from Claire’s wedding are out of focus. There’s a good reason why…it has much to do with meeting some very kind locals and sharing their love for Old Style.

And of course…lots of tales to tell from our most recent fall adventures. Plenty of eyecandy too come with those stories too. Remember when the sky was this color and not varying shades of gray?

That’s all for now…plenty of more to come!
