Alison + Mitch ~ Dwight Wedding Photography

May 15, 2014

I’m so excited to share Alison & Mitch’s wedding day with you all! Of all the couples I have photographed – this is the smiley-est couple I’ve ever know. Seriously. Wait until you see all of these smiles! These two people loooove each other and they are happy about it! As they should be.

So here we go…

Once everyone was dolled up in their wedding day finest, it was time for the first look. I love when couples see each other early in the day, in a private way. Check out this happiness:

See what I’m saying?! Best. Smiles. Ever.

The smiling continued for the bridal party photos despite the fact that everyone was freeeeezing. We’ve shot weddings in December and January but this late-March affair was the coldest wedding we’ve shot yet. It was actually the first time I ever shot a wedding in a coat! But that’s ok – memorable is always good on a wedding day.

One more of the boys because I love this one… though I don’t remember what was funny…

The grounds of the Dwight Country Mansion always make for beautiful photos. It’s one of my very favorite wedding venues, inside and out!

After we wrapped up, everyone hustled back to Streatorville for the ceremony.

Post-ceremony, husband and I snagged detail shots and watch as the sun started to peak out of the clouds just a tiny bit. The sun had not shone for a moment the entire day.

Stunning flowers by Flower’s Plus in Streator. Their flowers always make me want to get married again. Or, alternatively, be a princess. Have you noticed Duchess Kate is always carrying a bouquet? I want to randomly carry beautiful bouquets. You know, like while I’m shopping at Target or heading out to dinner.

Anyway – back to the sun – I was anxiously awaiting the bridal party’s arrival and silently praying that the sun was going to stay out long enough to make use of it. It did!! And on a gloomy day like this one, when the sun finally shines, I am not about to waste even 30 seconds of shooting time looking for just the right setting. I’m going with the light! So, we shot the remainder of their portraits in the middle of the road.

By the way…this is what having your photos taken should look like:

Party time! Again with the smiles!

A very happy first dance:

Normally this is where I would wrap up a blog post. But this time, I have to share the garter removal : ) The sweet little ring bearer was told to close his eyes, which he was happy to do… for a moment. Then his curiosity got the best of him.

Epic.

A big congratulations to Alison & Mitch! Thanks for letting us capture your big day and your wonderful smiles!
