Emily – Edwardsville/Alton Senior Photos

July 1, 2013

It’s senior photo time, friends!

I love me some senior portraits! So many different styles, so much excitement and energy to feed off of – seniors are just a special group of people.

Below you will meet Emily – She’s our Alton Area Senior Photo Rep for the Class of 2014. Which means she is the holder of coupons and deals that you’ll only get through her, so you’re gonna want to get to know her and show her some photo love!

We have a limited amount of space available on the calendar for senior photo sessions (during the summer & the fall months) so do not dawdle on getting in touch and getting a session scheduled! While sessions and prints and products and all those fabulous things can be purchased individually, we’ve also put together one hell of a package! (If I do so say myself…)

A few words about the package: all the included products are super-high-end, super-fabulous, super-professional and yes…better than what you can DIY through any online print company! (Samples are available, just get in touch to view.)

The package includes both the disk of high-res images and professional prints. That’s because one does not negate the other! The disk is perfect because you’ll have all of your images. And you can share them all over the interwebs. The prints are essential because a) they will be perfectly color calibrated, archival quality, and better than 15 cent drug store prints and b) because you’ll actually have prints! Don’t lie, you know you have a bazillion unprinted digital images on your computer.

Now that that little sales pitch is out of the way…let’s get to the good stuff!

Ladies and Gentleman: The stunning Miss Emily…

A note to Emily…and all the senior ladies who will grace this blog in the coming months…

You did an incredible job! I have no doubt that all sorts of comments are about to come your way through this blog and Facebook and text messages and probably random people on the street. People are going to tell you that you are beautiful. Gorgeous even. Do me a favor…believe them.

I suspect you have a number of girlfriends. And probably they are going to have things to say about your photos too. But here’s the thing about young women. Well…maybe about women in general. We have a hard time dishing out compliments to our woman-peers. So we hand out half-compliments. They’ll tell you your outfit was cute. Or that your photographer was awesome. Which she is, but that’s not the point. But know that what they’re saying is that you’re cute and you’re awesome. It’s just tricky business learning how to tell other women they’re awesome. But I suspect you also have a few girlfriends who will say that you looked beautiful. They’ll know exactly which images captured the real you. They’ll like you too much to bother being jealous of you. Do me another favor…keep them.

And over the next several months all of your girlfriends will have their senior photos taken too. Hopefully by me, but that’s not the point. When they do, remember how awesome it was to see that list of compliments and pile of “Likes” on the photos I posted on facebook. Remember the boost you got from hearing your family, friends, strangers, say you’re beautiful. And do me one more favor…tell them too.

Because there is much to be learned your senior year and in the crazy, amazing, years that will directly follow it. But there isn’t a textbook to teach you how to be confident, and Feminism 101 doesn’t teach you how to support other women. You just have to practice…

Cheers to all the things you won’t learn in high school!

PS – I know everyone is telling you that your senior year is the best time in your life. Don’t worry, they’re lying.
